FAQs
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a non invasive holistic complementary therapy that has a deeply relaxing effect on the body and mind.
Using specific finger and thumb techniques, pressure is applied to each reflex stimulating thousands of nerve endings and the energy lines that run through the body.
Reflexology is believed to originate back as far as 5000 years ago with records showing the ancient Egyptians, Indian and Chinese using pressure therapy on the feet to aid health and well being. Western healthcare professionals began to study these methods in the early 1900's and were able to map out the corresponding body parts, organs, nerves etc on the feet, naming these areas 'reflexes'.
What does Reflexology help with?
As Reflexology stimulates the body's own calming system (parasympathetic nervous system) it is fantastic at helping with issues such as anxiety, stress, depression/low mood, insomnia, burnout, migraines, teeth grinding etc. Many clients see a relief from aches and pains and injuries are often able to heal faster too.
When our bodies and minds are relaxed and calm, the body's own healing and restoration is encouraged. When all the bodily functions are working together in harmony, this state is known as homeostasis, the optimal state for health and wellness.
How many treatments will I need?
After your first treatment you should feel nicely relaxed and this feeling can often last for a couple of days. To fully re balance and restore the body and mind, it is recommended to have at least four weekly or fortnightly treatments by which time most clients then usually choose to move to monthly 'maintenance' treatments. Some clients also just book in whenever they feel they need a reset and a boost, which works great for them.
How should I prepare for my first treatment?
Just come along in comfy clothes, preferably with trousers that can be rolled to the knee but no problem if not.
No need to scrub off hard skin (this can help show me where imbalances might be present) and don't panic if you haven't shaved your legs- a little hair actually helps more nerves to be stimulated during your treatment.
Bring a drink of water for afterwards as you may feel quite thirsty.

I've had Botox/Fillers/Facelift, can I still have facial reflexology?
I cannot treat your face within the first 3 weeks after having Botox or Fillers. After 3 weeks we are fine to treat the face lightly although certain reflexes on the face may not feel the full benefit of the treatment. You should wait at least 3 months after having a surgical facelift before having facial reflexology.
I have a coldsore on face/verucca on foot, can I still have reflexology?
The coldsore or verucca would need to be covered with a plaster/surgical tape for the treatment in order to minimise spread.
